One Nation Under God

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness”(Declaration of Independence).

The Constitution and the Declaration of Independence were not written by man alone. These articles were divinely inspired. Our Creator did give us certain privileges.  Namely “Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness”.

God has given us our life and everything that we have in our lives(Alma 40:11, 1 Nephi 2:12). The role of the government is to protect this right to life. Life is a precious gift given by God to each of us. It is indeed a privilege to live and have a body to be given responsibility over. We have every right to decided what to do with our bodies.

God has given us freedom; mainly freedom to choose(2 Nephi 2:27). No man was born to be enslaved to another or to take another’s sins upon them. Men were given the ability and right to choose. Then they are responsible fo the consequences of their actions and no one elses. When we choose to follow God’s commandments that is when we truly become free.

~Pursuit of Happiness~

God has given us the opportunity to find happiness(2 Nephi 2 :25,Mosiah 2:41). This does not guarantee that all actions will result in happiness. This ensures that we have the right to find what brings us the greatest joy. We truly are happy when we can realize the blessings that God has given us. When we make righteous choices  and follow God’s commandments that is when we can obtain happiness, not only in this life, but in the life to come.

“The Constitution of the United States is a glorious standard; it is founded in the wisdom of God. It is a heavenly banner.” ~Joseph Smith~
