Line upon Line

Sometimes I wonder; why does it take me so long to figure things out?   I consider myself a fairly smart individual who should pick up on things. Yet sometimes, I don’t figure things out.  I find myself hitting my head against a brick wall a hundred times, before I realize that it hurts and there might be a better way.  Often, the better way is to turn to my Savior and ask my Heavenly Father for the answers that I need.

When we learn a new concept, we learn the basics first, the foundation stones. Then slowly, but surely, other things are added to that knowledge. There is no way that you would teach someone calculus with out teaching them basic math, algebra, and anything else they would need to succeed.

When we are taught spiritual things, it is done in the same way. Brick by brick, carefully laying the foundation so other knowledge can be added. It is this way we can gain a sure knowledge of all that Heavenly Father has in store for us.

I am often asked if I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints my whole life.  I have but that really doesn’t mean anything.  I have still learned in the same manner.  Line upon line, the small stuff before the larger stuff.

At times,  I feel like I am still banging my head against that brick wall;  but I have learned some very important lessons. Namely, that Heavenly Father loves me. That he hears and answers prayers. I know that Jesus Christ suffered and died for me. I know that two people can do anything as long as one of them is the Lord.
